I can't change my avatar

I like to change my avatar once or twice a day to suit my mood, and I'm having a hard time. This screen pops up saying that WP made an error and to either try again or send Alex an E-mail.

This is more than likely related to the fact that we're currently in the process of restoring the WP server from backups following yesterday's outage. Files are still being restored, and until they're finished, many files can't be changed (including your avatar).

There seem to be a few problems remaining with WP after the server failure and this looks like it's one of them, I'm afraid.
We may have to hang on another day or so while things settle down and get back to normal.

I was able to change my forum avatar unless this was sorted a long time ago?

Yes, it was: on or around Feb 6th.
The problems occurred during the restoration of WP from backup, after a WP hosting server failure.
