Is Asperger's itself anyone's special interest?

I know that a lot of Aspies (myself definately included) have special interests, is the actuald disorder Asperger's anyone's special interest?

Right now yes. Over the past few weeks, I have spent hundreds of hours researching and reading. Including reading around 10 books two or three times over and completing the OU open courseware ASD module.

Yes, Asperger's has been on-again, off-again special interest for years.

Yes very much so. My own Psyche has always been a special interest of mine because i was obsessed with finding out why i was different and just what the hell was wrong with me

I'm not even sure I am an aspie, tending towards a self-diagnosis, but I still have a very open mind about it. This research has included a lot of the differential diagnoses, such a RAD, ADHD, GAD etc.

No doubt, when I become suitably convinced I'll follow up with a formal diagnosis and then lose interest

Yep, autism has become my special interest. I am trying to get into autism research. It is not easy, but I am perseverating.

Since I self diagnosed, yes, definitely. I spend hours reading and researching about it. I think when I finally know everything there is to know in order to understand myself, I'll switch to something else.

YES and I have years of experance working with people with all DX's under PDD, Mental Retardation, and Cerebral Palsy just to name a few.

autism, AS, Tourette syndrome, ADHD and OCD are my main interests. I have all of them (sort of bordering between autism/AS diagnosis). I am also interested in other conditions that I do not have because I don't like being ignorant.

Yes, you could say that. I spend most of my spare time looking up AS online, and reading books about it.

Yes. I guess I'm lucky that my family has been so tolerant with my constant autism fact-rambling, fascination with anything or anyone involved with autism, and examination of all of our assorted family quirks to see if they relate to autism. I'm also thinking of changing my professional focus a bit from just kitchen and bath design to designing residences (shared and private) and areas in institutions (schools, hospitals) that are autism friendly.

ASDs and SPD are one of my current special interests, since I was diagnosed with Asperger's last July.

I got quite obsessed with it about a year ago when I was figuring out all sorts about myself and the condition. I spent nearly all day every day on this site and searching for ASD related articles etc online.

I'm still very interested in autism and I often search for related stuff on the internet and want to watch every documentary I can about it on T.V, which annoys my girlfriend as she was diagnosed with AS at 11 years old and is sick of hearing about it all the time. Yet she is similar to me in that she finds it annoying but addictive too.
