Charmander! In Black and White I started with Snivy. Gotta love a cool detached snake Pokemon.

Always Squirtle. My friend who introduced me to Pokemon liked Blastoise, and so did I. He was mad at me for a while when I deleted Hydro Pump and gave him Surf instead.

has to be squirtle. hated having to start with pikachu in yellow; always dumped him in a box as soon as i picked up squirtle and charmander. out of the later games, my favorite was treecko, first time you could start with a speedy grass character (i hate most tanks).

Didn't think there would be so many Squirtle-fans. :p As a kid, I was always "Team Pokémon Red" and the fire types were always my favorite (except for mudkips, i liek mudkipz)
