I despise the new videos that run when I click on follow-up threads. They ALWAYS make me jump. It feels like a violation... you can't turn it off, and if you are interested in reading the new posts you have to endure the whole ad.

I've not noticed any pop-ups or video ads with this site. I suggest doing what Mithos said and getting an ad-blocker. Changing to another browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox might also help, if you're not already using them.

I use Crome but I have Firefox + adblock... I guess I will have to start using it again... when I visit here. Firefox is slow on my old MacBook Pro.

Is it possible that the videos are actually called by spyware? Do they appear when you go to other sites?

How old is it? Mine isn't the newest, but runs firefox just fine, although I tend to stick with Chrome.

^ This. Adblock Plus on Chrome makes all the baddies go away. I was sceptical of Chrome at first when I couldn't find a Google search bar for it, but after I realised you could just type a search in the address bar I fell off my chair with joy. Just please, for the sake of mankind, avoid doing this:

Firefox started using a whole lot of cpu. And I could never figure out why. I searched the web for clues but it did slow way down. But Crome... even though I see ads is very fast. I dropped Firefox a couple of years ago.

I just checked for adblock for Chrome... they want $30 bucks for it.

Adblock Plus (beta) is free:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/popular

It's near the top, ABP.

The same ad for the Lorax keeps auto-playing when I open new threads. Clearly this is an ad that's "supposed" to be there, i.e. making money for the site, right? Will Adblock still work since they're semi-legitimate? I apologize if that's a stupid question but these sudden noises are making me totally crazy. It doesn't seem like the sort of place that lots of auto-playing videos could be welcome or super helpful.
