You're talking about blankie or that one special soft toy that always made you feel better, right?

My backpack goes everywhere with me. It has a lot of things in it that I might need--a first aid kit, a length of rope, some tools, duct tape, various sorts of medicine, paper and pencils, my phone, my camera, feminine supplies, a plastic rain slicker, candles, a flashlight, matches and a lighter, earplugs, gloves, sunscreen, chapstick, scissors, a knife, some razor blades, money, checkbook, super glue, ID, cough drops, hand sanitizer, sewing kit, and some other things still neatly bagged and waiting for use which I have probably forgotten about, but which will be used when needed.

Most of those supplies have come in handy some time or other.

My backpack is my buffer against the unpredictable... and my creative MacGuyvering has solved many an uncomfortable or annoying problem.

It's like the big purses a lot of normal females carry around... except that mine contains things much more useful than crumpled tissues, makeup, and movie ticket stubs!

I also carry my backpack with me most of the time, even though it's full of trash and it's too oversized to really be that practical...

But I am too lazy to think of anything else. ;-)

I'm another one who carries the a backpack.

I like to have things to hand (you never know what you're going to need)

... but it also gives me comfort for some reason, when I'm out on the street (perhaps its just a distraction)
:?

WOW, I used to, and often do, do the same thing! NEVER a backpack though. Heck, I have a nasty cold now I might NOT have had if I was allowed by the traffic security guys to carry my hand sanitizer. Or maybe I should have stuck with my instincts to not shake hands. 8-(

For a while, I thought you guys WERE talking about "blankie" or some such. Just goes to show! KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE!

Steve

I feel a bit awkward going into town without my backpack, as I go to school with it so often, and it has my Doodle Book of Doom in it. Other than that, I always go into the big city with my watch and cap on, otherwise I feel like I've forgotten something. In my story, Kipo's comfort object is a Dayol Cube, which is a made-up toy similar to a Rubik's Cube, but it uses magnets and you have to assemble all the smaller cubes together. I'd like one of those!

I usually don't bring my PSP because I kinda have an aversion to bringing $400 peices of equipment into town where it could break easily.

MY PSP is in a protective case which then gets wrapped up in a hat. Completely safe.

/me strokes her PSP
