I know there's probably about 10 other threads reporting this same bug, but it is really getting on my nerves and I want to know if it will be fixed soon. I go on WP a lot, I enjoy going on it, and when this keeps on happening, it really frustrates me. Nearly every time I go to click on a thread, it keeps coming up with the ugly ''cannot display the webpage'', I call it ugly because I hate it when that comes up. So I have to keep going back, and it does this about 3 or 4 times before it actually loads the page, and then when I try to post a message it does it too, and it's even worse when I submit it and it goes off and I don't know whether it's gone through or not, and opening up another tab doesn't work either because it doesn't load WP either. Also, when I go to edit a post and submit it, it cuts off all the time, which is awkward when I've just edited it because sometimes there ends up being two of my posts; the original one and the one with the changes in.

So loading the site takes five times as long as it should do. It drives me mad.

Ditto. It's not just the Cloud Flame "always online" thing either, unless that is infecting/disturbing the site's functioning generally. It's been slow or non-loading for over a week now, not all the time, but frequently. And often I get the flame cache page which leads nowhere.

Well moments ago it looks like the CSS part of the site was unresponsive, most likely another DDoS Attack on the site since knowing there are tons of trolls on other forums and sites that love to bring this site down, I figure that needs to be check and if possible be protected by a firewall in case another one happens, used firefox on the site and the "CSS" section of the URL cased a "The connection was Reset" message, meaning it could not reload and load the script, so again this bandwidth issue has to be DDoS related.

I swear, kids these days. One of the drawbacks to being a member of the digital generation I guess. That said, someone should write a security script that plants a trojan on anyone who participates in a DDoS attack on WP. Not exactly legal but justified. I'd want some stupid hacker to call up asking what he did to deserve having his $1500 custom desktop rig melt into a pile of liquid silicon goo, just so I could laugh at them.

That would not happen, and would also be illegal.

Illegal never stopped me. Ah well, I guess Alex has to have SOME standards...

There has, as far as I'm aware, never been a DDoS attack on WP.

The server is overloaded, simple enough.

We need to either improve the server or begin
a donation campaign to cover costs for a new server.

That's ironic.

From my home computer, I haven't gotten it once either.
However, from a public library computer and a school computer,
I have gotten it so many times, it drives me crazy.

then the natural question would be, what is the essential difference between your home computer/internet connection, versus the public library/school's computers/internet connections, that lets you escape the WP connection problems? what could we all learn from this?

I have an "older" model of a computer as my home computer.

School computers are DELL computers, not sure about the public library computers.
{I think the library computers are also DELL computers, I'll have to get back to you on this.}

Getting back to topic, someone should get in touch with Alex to get his take on the WP connection problems.

Simply put:

There is no difference that are present between my computer and the TAFE machines.
It's all the one IP Address range.

then would you kindly tell me what is it that enables you to avoid these problems? does this mean that certain IP addresses are immune to these problems? what is it about certain addys that causes problems? "enquiring minds want to know."

I lack anti-virus. Maybe that will help.

I use Ubuntu 10.04 frequently

I am in Australia

Thats most likely the top 3

i am guessing at this point, that australia is far better wired [in terms of digital infrastructure] than is america, large parts of which still use antiquated copper wiring. so your nation has far wider overall bandwidth/throughput speed which would enable you to slip ahead into WP in advance of the crowds, whereas us backwards americans would be stuck way back of the pack someplace and by the time we got to the door, the place was full-up yesterday. does anybody else here have anything any more informative than my jejune swag?
