Has anybody looked into crowd-funded games on Kickstarter?

I am just curious as a few of these projects have raised millions of dollars and gotten major industry professionals on board. I've contributed to 3 Kickstarter funded games so far. (Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns, and The Banner Saga) I was just wondering if anybody else had also looked into crowd-funding.

I'm excited about projects like Wasteland 2 being funded through Kickstarter, anything that avoids the publisher-enforced homogenisation of big budget games is a good thing imo, but like anything else on the internet it's open to the 99% of people who think they're talented but aren't actually capable of producing anything of value. That openness isn't in itself a bad thing but plenty of people are putting down money on nothing more than an idea, or a few pieces of amateur artwork, from an individual with no identity and no way to hold them to account.
