I'm excited about projects like Wasteland 2 being funded through Kickstarter, anything that avoids the publisher-enforced homogenisation of big budget games is a good thing imo, but like anything else on the internet it's open to the 99% of people who think they're talented but aren't actually capable of producing anything of value. That openness isn't in itself a bad thing but plenty of people are putting down money on nothing more than an idea, or a few pieces of amateur artwork, from an individual with no identity and no way to hold them to account.
