What are some jobs that you wouldn't do? (I am posting this in random discussion because this is just supposed to be a fun thing and it seems like what is talked about in there is more serious and more about actually looking for a job and coping with work). They do not have to be jobs that are "bad for aspies" and in fact, can be jobs that are "good for aspies", but you can choose jobs that are "bad for aspies" if you want; it just has to be a job that you would either not do even if it were the only job available or something that you wouldn't want to do at all, but would do as a last resort.

I wouldn't want to be one of people who washes high rise windows because though I am not really afraid of heights more than the average person, but I don't like idea of hanging 20 stories above the ground, it would make nervous (just the idea) and I wouldn't want to to drop my cleaner.

My top 10 worst probably are:

1. High rise window cleaner (See above)

2. Flag person (Seems boring and I wouldn't want to be out in the elements or use the port-a-potties all the time)

3. Telemarketer (Don't like talking to strangers on the phone, I think it would be boring and I don't think I like people being rude so often)

4. Engineer (I don't like math; especially the visual stuff)

5. Construction worker (Not too interested in hands on stuff)

6. Dog trainer (I am not very good with dogs)

7. Complaints department worker (I get annoyed with people who complain a lot so can you imagine me in this job?)

8. High school math teacher (Again, I don't like math)

9. Surgeon (I am too squeamish for this job)

10. Maternity nurse (We watched a video on pregnancy and childbirth at school and I thought some of it was gross)

What about you?

Anything that includes a chair and a PC, I'd only feel like I did a job if it involved any effort for me, rather than dealing with info and feeling like I work for no one because I wouldn't be working in front of human clients.

Anything in food service. Anything involving child care or sitting with the sick or elderly, although I wouldn't mind being their nurse I'd just hate the boring part of sitting with them.

Telemarketing...I would rather become a citizen of north Korea.

Make-up counter - they're all a bright orange mess yet look at you like you're the one who doesn't care about your looks!

Call centre - been there, done that, never ever want to do it again.

Carer for children or old people - I couldn't care for people so helpless.

Anything near water or bridges - terrified of both.

Waitress. I am not good with people, I am horribly clumsy and I have trouble recognizing faces.

Telemarketing. Tried it because I was desperate for money. Quit halfway through the first day....well, I didn't actually quit, I ran away, crying

Or anything else with alot of costumer service.

Telesales, telesurvey, telephone switchboard operator (done it VERY briefly), ... Most anything that involved making a phonecall actually. Receiving calls isn't as bad for me though.

Train conductor/ticketInspector - I'd keep asking the same people for their tickets and ignore the rest. If I didn't like the look of someone, for whatever reason, I'd also not approach them.
.. unless... Would be a bit easier if I could carry a big felt-tipped pen and tick the forehead of each passenger as I checked their ticket :-P

Waiter (would give food to wrong people)

Complaint department - "the customer is always right"? ... I don't think so! Sometimes they're WRONG and should be made to acknowledge that and apologise for wasting my time

All the jobs I've had have been retail/grocery. Mostly as a cashier, but I started off as a bag boy.

1. Surgeon. I'd kill a lot of people, as my hand isn't always that steady.
2. Cleaner. The idea of cleaning up someone else's mess upsets me.
3. Dentist. Poking around in people's rotten mouths is not something I'd do for all the money in the world.
4. Waiter. When I walk up a flight of stairs in my own house carrying a half-full glass, I still end up losing some of it.
5. Architect. I'm just that bad at understanding physics, and I don't want to be responsible for killing people.
6. Cab driver. Traffic annoys me, and I'd stress myself into an early grave.
7. Designer of any kind. Being judged is the hardest part of anything I make.
8. Window cleaner or high-rise construction worker. Fear of heights, and I wouldn't want to look through people's windows.
9. Factory worker. Physical labour would be very intense, and I wouldn't enjoy the tedious parts.
10. Helicopter pilot. Imagine having a heart attack while flying over the sea and being the only person able to fly the thing.

Anything that involves dealing with randoms (clients, costumers, patients,...).

I prefer to work with co-workers only, at least you're used to their inconstancy.

Yeah? I’d rather just quit the job myself :P

How about working at a job where you take care of old and disabled people and your co-workers are no help to you because they don't speak the worksite's common language and your bosses are only interested in keeping their paychecks so they can less that your work environment is mentally and physically hazardous to your health because the patients are free to spit on you, curse at you, throw things at you, and call you every name in the book without repercussion and the guilt-ridden family members expect blood and miracles out of you! It's called being an LPN. I did it for money for years. It's like being a legally abused hooker. Worst job for an aspie.
