I just rub my eyes and roll my eyes around in the sockets with the lids closed until they go away. Sometimes I like to watch them go by, though. :)

I think everybody gets them sooner or later. They used to annoy me a great deal, but gradually my mind adjusted to their presence and now I just don't notice them that much. It just takes time to get used to them.

Stare at a fixed point. If you see a few small blobs or smears that slowly travel across your vision or drift around aimlessly, that is perfectly normal. It is just loose cells floating around in the fluid of your eye. If it is a fixed spot or blob that doesn't move after several minutes you should get your eyes checked, especially if it persists for hours or days.

Eye floaters are caused by the remnants of the Hyaloid artery. This artery exists only prior to birth to nourish the lens and provide for all its metabolic demands during its initial growth. Once the lens has grown fully the artery recedes, leaving only some cellular debris behind in the Vitreous Humour.

These dead cells will on occasion pass directly in front of the fovea (most sensitive part of the retina) causing a shadow, hence resulting in the floating images we see.

Floaters are totally natural and cannot be cured

You are more likely to see them when in a highly illuminated room with white walls. Just as the lack of detail on these white walls makes the floaters appear more prominent
