Three years ago I wrote a screenplay.
Two years ago I produced two rock/ska albums.
Last year I wrote a dance pop/electro album.
Last month I started writing a short story but stopped because my good computer is in the shop.
I plan to start writing a rock opera this summer. It'll probably take me a year.

That means my special interests lasts about a year.

This is appropriate. The last two weeks I've been listening almost exclusively to Chopin and other classical music.

I sometimes feel like exploring new grounds and then I easily become obsessed.

I should add: Before these two weeks I didn't listen to classical music at all. It's my latest obsession after Thomas Newman.

Mine don't change as much as I gain a new one every couple of years or so. Like players on stage, the spotlight shines on whichever one is active at the moment but the others never leave my mind.

Human biology, horology, meteorology, astronomy, rocks & trains are obsessions that have been around, since childhood. They tend to ebb and flow. Heavy metal music has been an steady obsession, that started about 12 years ago. Emperor penguins are a recent addition.

My current obsessional is asperger's itself ever since I first learned about it 4 months ago.

My obsessions usually rotate between a few subjects every couple months or so.
It's a big cycle.
One month it's astronomy, the next it's rc cars, then guns -archery and hunting, alternative energy and then back to astronomy.

The Kinks were a well-respected band...

(Geez, I apologize for the corniness. I've been waiting so long to use that)
