As Christmas is slowly approaching, I think it's about time for a list of good/bad Christmas songs.

Best:
1. Pogues and Kirsty Macoll - Fairytale of New York
2. David Bowie and Bing Crosby - Little Drummer Boy
3. Pretenders - 2000 Miles
4. Greg Lake - I Believe In Father Christmas
5. The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)
6. Jonah Lewie - Stop The Cavalry
7. Bing Crosby - White Christmas
8. John Lennon and Yoko Ono - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
9. Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas
10. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You

Worst:
1. Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody (Played to death, IIIIIIIIIIIIIIT'S CHRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!! !)
2. Various Artists - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (Overly played)
3. Gary Glitter - Another Rock'n'roll Christmas (for the reasons nobody plays it anymore)
4. Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday (Similar to Slade, also overplayed)
5. Band Aid 20 - Do They Know It's Christmas (Worst version of the song)
6. Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone (overplayed)
7. Cliff Richard - Saviour's Day (Booooooooriiiiiiing)
8. Stiff Pilchard - Mistletoe and Wine (for the reasons above)
9. Band Aid 2 - Do They Know It's Christmas (second worst version of the song)
10. Wham - Last Christmas (Overplayed)

Feel free to post your lists :)

I've always been partial to "Christmas At Ground Zero" by Weird Al Yankovic

I like the the Trans Siberian Orchestra chrismas music. It's great to crank up on a nice HiFi sound system. I went to their concert last Christmas, and it was quite impressive!

Not a fan of any christmas song.

Only because the songs are monotonous due to the fact that are overplayed making them like that. In my opinion.

They are all annoying but the most is Merry Christmas Everyone. That is overplayed to the max, and there's an ASDA advert going on that is constantly shown on the ads on the programmes I watch.

It's part of their annoying singing done by kids! :x

God it's annoying. I just watch my movies from my DVD collection instead because of this.

Any Christmas song played prior to Thanksgiving is BAD.

This is my favorite Christmas song. I nominate it for both best and worst because I'm not sure which one it is...

Artist: Robert Earl Keen
Song: Merry christmas from the family
Album: The Party Never Ends

Mom got drunk and Dad got drunk at our Christmas party
We were drinking champagne punch and homemade eggnog
Little sister brought her new boyfriend
He was a Mexican
We didn't know what to think of him until he sang
Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad

Brother Ken brought his kids with him
The three from his first wife Lynn
And the two identical twins from his second wife Mary Nell
Of course he brought his new wife Kay
Who talks all about AA
Chain smoking while the stereo plays Noel, Noel
The First Noel

Carve the Turkey
Turn the ball game on
Mix margaritas when the eggnog's gone
Send somebody to the Quickpak Store
We need some ice and an extension chord
A can of bean dip and some Diet Sprites
A box of tampons, some Marlboro Lights
Halleluja everybody say Cheese
Merry Christmas from the family

Fred and Rita drove from Harlingen
I can't remember how I'm kin to them
But when they tried to plug their motor home in
They blew our Christmas lights
Cousin David knew just what went wrong
So we all waited out on our front lawn
He threw a breaker and the lights came on
And we sang Silent Night, Oh Silent Night, Oh Holy Night

Carve the turkey turn the ball game on
Make Bloody Mary's
Cause We All Want One!
Send somebody to the Stop 'N Go
We need some celery and a can of fake snow
A bag of lemons and some Diet Sprites
A box of tampons, some Salem Lights
Halleluja, everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the Family

Feliz Navidad

Strange thing is that Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody isn't all that bad. The first time you hear it. After that it's the most appallingly irritating Christmas song ever.

Where are all the hymns?!

My favourite Christmas pop song: In Dulci Jubilo by Mike Oldfield - even if it is only an instrumental

It's so uplifting.

Honorary mentions: I believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake, Stop the Cavalry by Jonah Lewie, and - for sheer cheesiness - A Spaceman Came Travelling by Chris de Burgh.

My least favourite: Happy Christmas (War is Over) by John Lennon

OK, I have a new one.

The community orchestra that I play with just did Sousa's Jingle Bells Forever.

I can't stand Sousa, and I don't really like secular Christmas songs, so this one was a new low for me.

Best Christmas songs are the ones sung by Karen Carpenter. (She's one of my "interests"!) She has a voice very suited for Christmas aire.

I also like Christmas songs sung by Bing Crosby, Andy Williams or Josh Groban. I guess the "Voice" is important to me, more than the song. :)

Worst Christmas songs: "Christmas Shoes". Drivel and very, very manipulative and makes me ask questions about the storyline. It just all doesn't make sense. Anyone else know this song?

ooo! I heard two of their songs on the radio this past week, they're good. I really like the one that is based on Pachelbel's Canon.
