What does everyone think? Is it a good thing or bad thing? Would love to get everyone's opinions since this has divided the nation just like Social Security and Medicare when they were enacted.

Businesses with less than 25 employees are screaming the loudest and who will get some sizable tax cuts. But, many of these small businesses don't take anything out of it's employees checks except state income taxes. No social security or medicare. And anyone that work for some of these small businesses all their lives has no social security or medicare to look forward to when they retire. But, now that the Affordable Healthcare Act passed, they will probably have to pass some of the cost of premiums onto the employees like when I was in the workforce working in factories who was struggling with insurance issues. And because everyone is not insured it is hurting the rest who are insured through higher premiums, because the uninsured have to go to emergency rooms and need other health care. It is the taxpayer who is insured have to foot the bill for those who are not insured. It makes sense to me that the more people get on board the less insurance premiums will be because a lot more money is coming in.

Social Security and Medicare were the best programs to come along for us who has worked all our lives. And I feel the same way about the Affordable Healthcare Act. I'm also for the mandate that make those who are working, without insurance to pay higher taxes so we don't get stuck with there expenses. This has been a long time coming even before I heard of Barack Obama who I voted for. I'm not talking about those with Aspergers or Autism that need mental health care either and are unable to work. This would be the responsibilty of businesses to provide the insurance to parents who have disabled Autistic and Aspergers children and adults, rather then the rest of us getting stuck with the bill.

Anyhow I got called an idiot on facebook by I thought from a friend since we worked together for many years at this one factory, for my opinions. She is excessively posting anti Barack Obama images on facebook. She has been blocked from my facebook page because she called me an idiot since I have an opposite viewpoint than her. I've been disappointed in Barack Obama too, but I don't hate him to such an extreme. Or maybe she is just racist, because a black president was voted in. I will vote for Obama again.

Sorry to be dumb. I'm not familiar with some of the forums on here and is never sure where to put them.

Everyone who has a paycheck in the USA pays into Medicare. The only American workers who don't pay into social security are state and local government employees, and some older federal employees. And, of course, people who work illegally.

I have to disagree with you since I have worked for small businesses. The only thing they took out of my paychecks was state income tax and nothing else. But, the factories and bigger businessess that I worked at, Medicare and Social Security was taken out of my paychecks. I was in the workforce for 45 years. And some people go through life working for these small business where an employee don't have medicare or Social Security taken out by the employer. And it seems like Social Security and Medicare goes hand in hand. I mostly worked in factories.

I know one small business in my town that pays it's employees with cash. That way it doesn't have to worry about income tax even or spending money on blank checks and CPAs, etc.

You might want to check your W-2 forms again. Deductions for medicare and social security are required. You had better look into this, because your social security benefits will be at stake. Social Security can provide you with a statement as to your annual earnings. Compare that against your old tax returns. You had better go to your social security office and discuss any discrepancies.

It doesn't matter anymore since I was quite young when I worked for these dead beats. In fact when I worked for these deadbeats I don't think there was medicare since Lyndon Johnson signed it into law when he became president upon Kennedy's assassination. I only worked for them for short periods of time when I would be laid off from my regular job. I didn't even get a W2 form from these small businesses. But, I got W2 forms from the factories and when I worked in an office for close to a year. I'm doing just fine on Secial Security and get more than most since I was employed without hardly any breaks during those 45 years. I also get a pension.

But, someone needs to report the business that pays cash however.

A single payer system would avoid putting the burden of healthcare cost on businesses. I'd also support a guaranteed minimum living allowance for all individuals. It would replace social security, welfare, foodstamps, and minimum wage laws. A variant of this idea was proposed by Milton Friedman, hardly a socialist.

I have to correct myself since Medicare was signed into law by Lyndon Johnson in July 30, 1965, about 4 years before my first factory job. But the point is there are crooked businessess out there just like the one in my town that pays it's employees in cash.

You should just gloat and let her know that she's a sore loser. That's the only way to deal with people like that.

She isn't even worth dealing with. I never called her names and even put a website in my message how small businessess who have less than 25 employees will get tax cuts up to 50%. She just hate everything that is connected to the Democrats. I see both good and bad in both parties and have crossed party lines to vote for Republicans because there is a lot of Republicans I like. She is just a pathetic human being who can't accept change. If she treats people like that and resort to name calling than I hope she goes out of business. I just bet she is insured, but care less about her employees. How is that right?

Single payer is the perfect system for people who don't mind standing in line to wait for their services.

In Britain, those who can afford purely private medical service use it in preference to NHS.

Why do so many Obama supporters always jump to this flawed conclusion?
Maybe people just don't agree with Obama as a politician, that's all.

I could also say that many people voted for Obama because he was black, failing to look objectively at him as just a politician.
Which could also be considered racist, Obama supporters don't give him a fair, objective chance because of the color of his skin.


As far as the original topic goes, I think the ACA is a bloated, pork-ridden behemoth of a bill that will produce all kinds of unexpected negative consequences that we won't realize until it's too late. It's really just a handout to the insurance companies, who we're toasting champagne with Nancy Pelosi hours after it was passed.
It improves nothing, it just helps create uncertainty among voters, giving politicians of both parties something to campaign on.

I had my back to the TV most of the time or sitting at the computer when those running for president would speak. And everytime Obama spoke which I didn't associate the voice to the man at the time, the first thing that would pop up in my mind is "Who is that making such a great speech". I voted for him because I loved his message, not because he is black.
