sorry about all the posts lately. but i have some strange...obsession,almost, with commircails. i'm constantly repeating them to my self(out loud!!!my friends never cease to be amused). i've been doing it since i started watching television. i'll be eating dinner and just randomly say one(while my mom stares with her mouth open and my sis procedes to attempt to copy me). it isnt bothering me or any one else, i just wanted to know if anyone else did this.

dirtgod:gary,what are you doing?
gary:i'm shining up my atv
dirtgod:...why?!
gary:because its..dirty?
dirtgod: from now on your name will be Sally!(gives him pink dress and atv)
passing dude:hey sally
gary/sally:...hi

I enjoy repeating infomercials. And watching them, I should add.

I must say the way I cynically attack every commercial leaves me with little to no enjoyment.

That's normal for an aspie, Blackcat. To your next question, same. You read right out of a textbook.

I agree with Griff. It's not strange at all.

Maybe I shouldn't say this, but this site has REALLY opened my eyes.

Blackcat,

If you spoke as you type, and even had problems as you mentioned earlier, and I happened across you, I wouldn't have thought any less of you. Even if I didn't have some of the same problems, and never met anyone with a drawl, or that spoke fast, or that stuttered, I would probably STILL not look down on you, etc... HECK, I would probably even think it was kind of cute to a degree. The way you spoke about your mother not giving your hoody back, etc... There is just something about that. I don't know whether it is nostalic, or what.

You have to realize that as depressed as I get sometimes, some simple things can make me feel nice. Just a couple days ago, it was the slinky song. I SWEAR, with what went trough my head, I must have heard it as a baby! It WAS first marketed about 18 years before I was born, so that is possible. I also earlier heard the Feeling Groovy (59th St. Bridge Song) song recently , and that brought back some memories, and was nice. THAT was surprising, EVEN though the most prominent memory was waiting for my mother to buy shoes! YIKES! I DID usually have puzzles, etc... though.

If you constantly repeated commercials out of context, etc.... and I didn't know you, I might have. NOW, I guess I'll have to assume less. The same goes for self mutilation, and the really wild stims.

You should hear one persons story(I asked in private, so I won't post it here). He makes it sound like he was one of the ones I would have tried to avoid, and would have had a hard time trying to talk to, but now he seems articulate, and one I might like to talk to! GO FIGURE!

OH WELL! The first sony Vaio and HP computer I saw looked like worthless JUNK, and now they are among the best. I may even have simply seen ones that were overly abused. I guess people are the same way.

Griff IS right though! It IS a listed AS trait. I sometimes FELT like doing that, and sometimes did it in my head. I'm just talking about vocalizing at length, like raymond in the rainman movie.

Hopefully, nobody was offended. In a way, I mean it as a compliment!

Steve

Yes, and I think that the scientific explanation for it is sound getting caught in the auditory memory and coming out as an echo without having to wholly register elsewhere. I think that the best way to understand it is as the fulfilling of a parrot reflex. It's a wonderful thing to take unethical advantage of.

LOL

I repeated the JD Wentworth commercial, and that was during Thanksgiving, and my Dad was talking about Finance, so that was what made it so funny!

I keep singing
"night nuuurrrssse"

British commercial for Night Nurse flu tincture.

I think a lot of people drop jingles into conversation, when you see something repeatedly its likely to get spat out.

Sometimes I get the slogans from commercials stuck in my head. They're brainwashing.

Oh, and I've seen that 4Head ad. It was featured in a news article here in NZ.
