The U.S. needs a new National Anthem. No more hymns about a rocket attack on a fort back in the early 1800s. How about:

Aww shucks, 'merica can't take credit for inventing slavery or sushi. I also think they forgot to mention nukes... and Chuck Norris (pbuh).

For some reason, dicatorships like Kazhaakstan, the USSR or China always have the best national anthems. Most European/North American nations have extremely boring anthems.

The current national anthem is difficult for the average person to sing and contains awkward phrasing and archaic words. Also, it is a song about an unremarkable battle in a mostly-forgotten war.
I like "My Country 'Tis Of Thee". The only problem is that the melody is borrowed from "God Save the Queen". That could be confusing whenever it is played without lyrics - at the Olympics, for example.
I also like "America the Beautiful", albeit minus the "God shed His grace on thee" phrase.

Omg, so nice.! I think the answer to your question is some sort of fascism, but this is very impressive nevertheless ^^

from my 2003 blog:

"I said "the Folsom Prison Blues" should be our national anthem--it says more about America, with its guns, its prisons, & its loneliness of highways, than any other single song. But to be the country of "This Land is Your Land" (including the often-omitted verses)--that is something to aspire to."

I vote for David Bowie's "Chant of the Ever-circling skeletal family".
