If it was one subforum you would have people talking about 5000 different things, so it wouldn't be cohesive. The alternative would be to make hundreds of subforums, which is of course absurd.

edit: I mean, the purpose of a forum is so you can have one place to discuss certain ranges of topics determined by whoever started the forum. Everyone has different special interests though, and that would simply be too broad for one forum.

edit: My special interests are psychoactive drugs, British comedy, neuroscience, mixology, and classicism. Does it make sense me and a guy who loves MLP, Inuyasha, K-pop, and Christian Rock would post in the same place about our interests? Not really, we like completely different things.

Another Asperger's site has a subforum for talking about special interests and it works out really well. The way I see it, a special interests subforum would not only be for discussing the special interests themselves (which could be contained in singular threads for people who share that interest to gather and post in), but also the nature of special interests, such as "Were you ever sad over the loss of an interest?", "What were your former interests?" or "How long do your interests typically last?"

Personally, I would really like a special interests subforum on here because I like reading about other aspies' interests (in addition to discussing my own) and especially, discussing the nature of special interests. Special interest threads are pretty much the only reason I come to the General Autism subforum anyway, and I'm always disappointed when I log on and don't see any new threads about the topic (I hate starting new ones because I don't want to be yelled at for always bringing up the same things, even though that hasn't happened yet).

Yeah, I guess it might work like that. How many people post there and how many post here, though?

On the other site, you mean? I don't have exact numbers, but that site only has a couple hundred members, and it's not nearly as active as WP.

I'd post in it. Then again, I would also post in a sub forum for those of us who have SI's that are mechanical in nature too.

Seems like a good idea. I'd like to see it done!

Alright, I'll go along with it, but only because I hate all forms of dissent! Just pretend it says everybody clicked yes.

I've indeed been wondering why there isn't such a forum.
