Why won't my diagnostician provide me a summary report?!

So I'm having a bit of an issue with getting a summary report out of the doctor who diagnosed me. I am aware that I cannot have the actual copy of the report sent out to my other doctors as there could be possibly upsetting information in it so I requested that she put together a personal report clearly outlining diagnostic issues, IQ, and adaptive behaviors, suggestive treatment plan, etc. but she has refused twice.

Has anyone dealt with this? What are some suggestions?

I'm so frustrated!

Sounds like HIPPA privacy laws in effect here. Her hands are tied - unless those records are subpoenaed by the courts.

have you had your other doctors send out medical release request forms directly to the doctor who diagnosed you? doctors won't give you a copy of your record but usually if another professional directly requests it and you've signed a release form it should be fine. you won't be able to look at the record but the release will allow other doctors to see it.

I just posted this in another thread. Most doctors don't do that unless you request it and pay for it. I asked my doctor to write one and paid extra for the one page report. My doctor is a private clinic psychologist, though. It can't hurt to ask them to do that. Just the date, testing done and conclusion would be enough. The trick is you've got to agree to pay for their time.
