This looks like a good game .I'll have a go

1935 Elvis Presley is born
Paperback books are mass-produced for the first time,by Penguin
Sir Malcolm Campbell sets new land speed record,301 mph (would have been
faster if it hadn't been for those speed cops getting him to pull over)
In London,Leicester Square subway station opens, having the longest escalator
in the world (BTW I once travelled on the subway and noticed a sign saying
'Dogs Must Be Carried On The Escalator'. It took me absolutely ages to find a
dog and then I noticed that nobody else had bothered to follow the instruction
and get one)

p.s. just occurred to me,has anyone noticed if en una isla's post count has gone up in
tandem with the years

This happened in 1935

Many of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal programs, designed to help America recover from the Great Depression, had been declared unconstitutional by the conservative Supreme Court. In response, FDR devised his famous "Court-packing" scheme, which would have added one new Justice to the court for every current Justice over a certain age who refused to retire. The resulting public outrage killed any chance the scheme had.

Many of the more conservative Justices died or retired soon, anyway.

Never mind. The court-packing scheme happened in 1937.

In 1935, Louisiana Senator Huey Long was shot in the Louisiana state capitol.

You're getting ahead of us, tinky. Besides, I look just like Buddy Holly.

And you're Mary Tyler Moore.

In 1940, the German Army stared hard at France. France surrendered the next day.

1941 Germany attacks Britain with bombs. At the same time the US attacks,I mean
supplies,Britain with food.
Britain saves Iraq from Nazi control
US saves Iceland from Nazi control
Bob Dylan is born, but is too young to save anyone from the Nazis yet
President Roosevelt describes Pearl Harbour as 'a brilliant feat of deception,
perfectly timed and executed with great skill'. I never saw the film myself but
the President obviously liked it.

In 1942, Erwin Rommel was sent to Africa to bail out the Italian army. His tanks faced off against the Pharaoh's war chariots in the battle for Egypt.

In 1943, the Mafia decided that their "arrangement" with the Nazis concerning control of Sicily was unsatisfactory, forcing them to shoot Adolf Hitler in the kneecaps.

In 1944, ex-New York Governor Franklin Roosevelt wins another term as President against New York Governor Thomas E. Dewey, 432 electoral votes to 99. A few days later, the Chicago Daily Tribune sheepishly apologizes for its famous "Dewey Defeats Roosevelt" headline.

In 1945, Roosevelt dropped dead, and Harry Truman dropped da bomb. A blow is struck for the rights of homosexuals when the bomber Enola Gay is chosen to drop the first atomic bomb.

In 1946, the fallout from the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs had an effect on the whole world, and this effect is the cause of why there are so many people in their late 50's / early 60s, including Dubya.

In 1964, Congress passed the Voting Rights Act, protecting the voting rights of all Americans. Most Americans, however, ignored the news and went right back to watching Dick Van Dyke trip over an ottoman.

1966 A missing H bomb,which had 'fallen off' a B52 bomber,is found on the Atlantic sea
bed. 'Volunteers' from the US authorities go bathing in the Atlantic to prove to the
world that the waters are perfectly safe. *shove* *Splash !*

In Spain 100 priests, protesting against police brutality, are brutally beaten up
by police.

Bob Dylan goes electric for the first time and his audience are shocked. An electric
shock ?

Carnaby Street in London is the fashion capital of the world, where people flock to
look at the youths with their long hair and bright coloured skirts.

In 2008, Hillary Clinton becomes the first female US President...for about 5 minutes. "Her" secret is revealed when a post-election erection pokes through her dress during "her" victory speech.
