Hello, new to all this, so many questions, help?
So I was surfing the web and I found a link or something about aspergers and realized that it really described me, so I took a quiz and this is what I got:
Your Aspie score: 179 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 26 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie
apparently I can't post images yet but the graph looks like a big webbed foot pointing straight at "Aspie" on the red nine lines
So It's a little hard to understand but should I see a doctor/psychiatrist/psychologist and try to get diagnosed?
If I do have it am I on the extreme side? If a lot of people take this test, what's the normal score?
Could this be the explanation for everything that has made my life so... different?
If so, I think it could really help me.
I'm just new to this whole thing and I don't know what to do. Thanks for any advice.
the aspie tests online can be an indicator, but are not a replacement for a professional diagnosis.
what were the points you thought described you in the link or something about aspergers?
i guess getting an official diagnosis is personally subjective. if you have need for a diagnosis, such as certain symptoms being overwhelming and interfering with your desired daily life, then that might be a reason to talk with a professional and let them assess you.
well it's really a lot of them, a lot of the little things such as anxiety and pacing and even very specific things like "does the noise of motorcycles scare you" that made me wonder how did they know that? And how I try to understand people but I always misunderstand their emotions, I even mistake crying for laughing sometimes which has resulted in quite a few awkward situations, I can't describe things out loud, I can on paper, but saying them is hard and I can't answer questions well, stare at people but avoid eye contact because I'm such an awkward turtle and I hurt peoples feelings without even knowing, about how I'm honest and straightforward and I don't understand why people lie, even about small things and why people aren't genuine and I get so many thoughts in my head I live there but coming out is hard and scary and when I try to be friendly it just sounds so stupid because I don't know social things like what to say
I could go on and on....

ah.... i understand. asperger's is but one condition, and symptoms of as can be considered in other conditions as well.
somebody in another post suggested i ask myself what i would hope to come out of a diagnosis. i suggest you do the same.
for me, (and i've just begun the process of seeking diagnosis), my reasons include self-validation and maybe some therapies to help with sensory integration and communicating with people. some people want relief or control of symptoms such as extreme anxiety, sleep disorders, or overwhelming ocd.
what would you hope to gain from a diagnosis? you don't have to answer here, but thinking about it might help you decide if you really want to speak to a doctor about it.
Yeah, I understand and thank you ^^ I read somewhere that aspies have an easy time understanding each other and wow I need to meet one
nobody's ever understood before....
Yeah I think for self validation and help with my sensory overload and help with dealing with NT's
I've decided to go to a pro and see what they think. Thanks a lot!
