So hey! Let's talk Fairy Tail!
So, having recently watched the first three episodes of Fairy Tail's fourth season, and being the curious masochist that I am, last night I read through about fortysomething chapters of the manga, up to where the story currently is at this point. I figured, I don't really read the manga, so this could be an opportunity to truly catch up on what's been going on.
Well, it's not a bad arc so far, but I'm afraid Mashima is burning himself out with this.
Seriously, it almost feels like he couldn't f*****g WAIT to resolve the whole "dragon slayer/Zeref" storyline, especially coming after Tenrou Island and all that. So many things are going on at once (the Grand Magic Games, Jellal's stakeout, Laxus confronting Raven Tail, the whole "wanting to use Lucy to achieve time travel so we can kill Zeref" thing, the July 7th business, we finally learn Mirajane's last name), it almost feels like Mashima is slowly beginning to lose sense of what this series really is, and I hope he doesn't end the series like this (we've still got another year for this thing to resolve itself, methinks and much to my frustration).
Oh well. At least the anime gave us a pretty awesome filler arc as a breather.
So, any thoughts, if any?
On a slightly unrelated note, I'm finally watching the original Fullmetal Alchemist. It's pretty awesome, if I should say so myself.
I've never watched fairy tail, however I did get completely and utterly obsessed with the main theme for a few weeks. Not quite to special interest standards, but it was quite strong. I really like the soundtrack, and I have thought about watching it but I don't really have the patience for much series based tv really.

I generally never go for the big-name shounen. The closest I've ever gotten to that was completing all 51 episodes of Soul Eater.
Fairy Tail, however...Again, I am not a fan of long shounen series. But I have seen exactly 19 episodes of it. Not ground-breaking, not wonderful. But the light-heartedness is appealing. It is also, at least in my opinion, much less annoying than the Big 3. And seems to have much more potential...as far as a show of this genre can, that is. The settings in the series are also very similar to that of an RPG, and I love anime with that sort of theme, so...
I like Erza, Gray, and Lucy the best. ![]()
