I live in New York, the storm right now is freaking me out! Seriously, my house lost power twice so far and my family keeps on hearing transformers exploding in the distant. I'm really scared right now :(

I've been watching on the news and it looks bad. Just stay safe, it should pass in a day or so.

Wow, Sandy. Let's see...

Can anybody here say "hype"?

This storm was completely underwhelming. Power outages and, if you live within like 5 miles of the ocean, flooding.

Yeeeeah...I'm not gonna say this was any worse than your average thunderstorm. Except maybe for the flooding, which affected the minority of people who were hit by this storm.

I managed to avoid it on the east coast. Wow.

Even if it is a little hyped, this is still the Northeast. They're not used to having weather like that...

My very elderly grandfather lives right smack in the middle of where this hurricane is hitting. And if anything bad happens to him, I'll never forgive you for this comment.

Already a million plus without power.
Hardly an average thunderstorm.

It wasn't underwhelming well at least to me. I live in NYC area and many people were given mandatory evacuation orders and had to go to the shelter.
Thousands of flights got cancelled, bridges and tunnels closed, airport runways are flooded and public transportation systems are submerged in water. NYS and its neighboring states declared state of emergency.

Is this "the Year Without a Halloween"?

I didn't lose power, which was good! The high winds got scary though.

Nova Scotia is getting hit with this storm too.

While not as serious as New York (or New Jersey for that matter), it's still a tad worrisome.

Same things happen when we get typhoons over here. Stay safe and don't go out. Put on headphones and do something you like. A few years 681 people died in one single storm, on this tiny island...so really, don't mess with storms.

You mean in an area populated by over 22 million people, 6.2 million lost power as of Halloween morning? Hmm, still not very overwhelming. Thunderstorms often cause outages for almost 100% of the population in the areas that they affect. ~20% isn't all that massive, New York City or not.
