I have previously experienced NTs seeing negative emotions in texts I have written when there was none. In another asperger forum I am a member of, I have experienced NTs expressing a concern that many of us were angry in the way we write, when in fact we just state facts and opinions and expect others to understand what we are writing.

It is my impression this has something to do with what I heard a fellow aspie tell me: that aspies see details first, then the big pictures, whereas NTs see the big picture first and then the details. Along with the social intuition NTs have, this - to me - makes it seem that NTs dont just read the words and derive a meaning from that, but also to a great extend seem to be reading between the lines. This may then result in misunderstandings when they are reading a text written by an autistic.

Do you guys have any thoughts in regards to such misunderstandings when it comes to NTs reading texts written by autistics?
If so, have you got any advice for an autistic who wants people to understand me correctly?
Or should I just say 'I know that I am pretty good at expressing what I mean in writing and if people see something in that text that just isnt there, its their mistake, not mine'?

Have you shown your work to other aspies as well, for comparison? It could be you are, unintentionally, coming across as negative in your writing with word choice or dialogue. Maybe you could post a snippet here so we could decide.

I come across as angry or confrontational when I'm just presenting the facts, but it's pretty much intentional.

When writing, I feel I actually do see the big picture first, but want to be as meticulous as possible in relating each point as to how I've reached my conclusions.

Many NTs, I think, actually get bogged down with or hung up by some of these details, almost like it's detail-overload for them. They simply want a generalization that sort of affirms the main message first, and then fills in bits and pieces here and there. I prefer to go point-by-point.

Of course, you'd have to be more specific as to how you write, and places where NTs think you're being angry.

I only perceive social slights when people deliberately, consciously misspell words to sound cutesy...or whatever their purpose is...

Eggspecially you! It's berry, berry annoying.

The correct way to say it is, "It's verry merry berry annoying."
