Does anyone here enjoy gambling, or have an interest?

Talk about gambling experiences here.

Yes, to the extent that I can't start gambling or I won't stop until I'm dead broke.

I'm incredibly lucky when it comes to gambling. The very first time I went to a venue where there were those touch-screen machines installed, I won $1,000 (my sister had been sitting at the very same machine, and getting nothing, so she said 'here you go, I'm tired of this'. On the second touch of the screen - 8O :D ).

Honestly, I find gambling to be intellectually offensive. The entire idea that I'm wagering $1.00 with the expectation of getting 97¢ back is something that makes me angry because it insults my intelligence by implying I am so stupid that I would fall for it. Frankly, I'd rather get drugs or alcohol or anything than gamble. When I lose, I have nothing to show myself but regret. At least when I take drugs and/or drink I have a fun feeling for a few hours. This is the same reason why I don't go to clubs.

Vegas and atlantic city are built on losers. Most folks come out behind. So why would I be any luckier than anyone else?

Thats been my attitude.

But lately I have sorta taken an interest in it.

My advice:
If you're nt: play poker.

If you're an aspie: play blackjack.

Poker is for folks who can bluff and can read faces.
Blackjack is for folks who can count cards.

If I had the extra dough laying around I might be willing to throw down a little bit on a UFC fight or two here and there. Only ones that seem very obvious who the winner will be though!

I am not interested in gambling, however I have played poker a lot online. I find the strategy interesting, I'm not really bothered about the chance aspect of it. I've sort of developed a mentality that focuses on the average expected result and whether my own play was right for the situation, rather than the short term variance of luck. Games of pure chance don't interest me for the same reason, I just see it as giving money away.

Poker is much more mathematical and analytical than the popular conception of it. Focusing on how people play and figuring out the best response is much more important than trying to pick up on some tell. I suspect it's quite suited to aspies.

Gambling is a mugs game. Too many people have got addicted and lost everything through it. Broken lives and relationships. The odds are always in favour of the house so it seems illogical to me to bet, especially when people bet more and more trying to recover their losses.

I used to play the pokies a fair bit, about once a week when me and the BF at the time went out on Friday nights.

I used to play lotto regularly too but now I only play when the jackpot is decent.

I used to be obsessed with fruit machines as a young kid. I loved the idea of a big shiny machine with flashing lights belching out more pocket money. My parents were reluctant to let me play them though, for which I'm grateful.
