whenever you get upset or feel threatened or disrespected, do you shut down and ignore the person talking to you? i ve done it in the past and my sister said she doesn't like it and thats its rude and disrespectful. honestly, i dont care if its disrespectful. when a person irritate me or upset me, that is what i will do. since they want to disrespect me, ill disrespect them back. no point of verbalizing my problems because no one listens or ridicule me on how i talk. The biggest FU i can give to a person is by ignoring them and pretending im deaf.

Yes, I do that too. I don't know how to respond and can't respond to such behavior. I just withdraw as if I didn't see them or hear them.

Ive done that at work recently. Had a few people disrespect me and one was bullying. No longer speak to either, other than professional capacity only.

I do that both at home and work. My family argues all the time at home, so I constantly shut down and drift into my happy realm. At work I deal with drunk college kids at night and they irritate the hell out of me, thus shutting down and focusing only on my job getting stuff out.

It depends on who the person is. There are some though that I will clearly tell them not to disrespect me.

yes if someone upsets me I shut down and don't talk to them for a long time.
I remember when I was working and someone upset me I sat on another table in the canteen.

yes with the majority of people. The exception is if I am in a romantic relationship with someone. Usually, I will lash out and say everything I need to say. Otherwise, it just clogs up valuable space in my brain.

Yes .. I do that too, but not intentionally. It's more like an overwhelming chaos of feelings, that I can only recognise as bad, mixed with strange anxiety-like feelings throughout my body, and a deep desire to run away from there.

With people who knows me well it often progress towards a angry meltdown, followed by a shutdown.

With people in every other context, I can suppress the meltdown, and continue directly to the shutdown. The depth of the shutdown depends on how evil or rude the person was to me. Afterwards, I'm usually almost physically unable to talk to that person, or even be in the same room as the person without risking another shutdown.
