When I had my first period I had a terrible bout of rage and was in denial of the fact that I had reached maturity. I was a teenager yet still had a childlike mentality. My mother tried to explain what was happening but I only yelled at her saying "stop saying that!" Did you, or someone you know experience this as well?

Mine started so young - I tried to hide it.

I think this should either be moved to Adult Discussion or Woman's discussion.

Not exactly, mine started when I was 12 and it was just really heavy...one time I had to get a ride home from my mom and it was embarrasing because I was trying to explain in the office why I needed a ride home but didn't want to straight out say my pants where full of bloody period crap. I got the ride home and even stained the seat but I think it got cleaned with salt since that works great to get blood out of cloth.

Then other than that I passed out when I was on my period and hungry at the same time, at the hospital they said it was probably a combination of waiting too long to eat and recently starting my period which was unusually heavy at first, luckily its decreased so its much lighter and usually does not even last a week. When I was younger i thought maybe I had PMS issues but it seems more like it was just my general mental issues since I don't really get noticeably more moody or anything when I'm on it.

I was very upset when I got my period for the first time, I remember crying. I definitely did not feel ready (I was 11).

Whilst this might be better in the Women's Discussion, I don't think it needs to be in the Adult section, most people start menstruating when they are children and children are taught about it at school.

I remember not wanting it. Fortunately didn't get cramps until day 2. Unfortunately, I've had severe cramps going on 10 years now.

I agree. It should be in the women's section.

No, I did nothing. I just knew that since that day I would have felt pain five days a month, but I thought, ahw, well, that was going to happen sooner or later.

Well, here is the reason why my avatar is a peter pan statue.

Around 10-12 (Not sure exactly, but it was right before age of puberty), I had a massive fixation on peter pan. I LOVED peter pan. A lot. That was my "thing" then and I wished quite sincerely and passionately that I would never grow up. When signs of puberty began to hit, I panicked and went into rebellion. I wore baggy clothes to hide chest. I didn't wear deodorant until being complained to multiple times. I was told to shave, but didn't want to (and still don't, that crap makes me itchy). The period itself was torture and I was so distraught, combined with WICKED cramps, that I broke down in these crying fits.

Eventually, I accepted an adult body, but I never felt like I mentally matured and couldn't get on well with adult things like most people around me eventually did. I tried, but it never worked. I didn't know why. For two decades, I really believed it was because I made that wish when I was a kid. I've never told this to anyone before.

I started having periods when I was 12. The first period I had I was scared and ask my mom about it and she told me why I was having them. I for one accepted the fact that I started having periods. The only thing I didn't like after my first period is they were so heavy. But I don't have to worry about periods anymore since I went through menopause when I wa 48.

You have become a young woman and the rest of you will catch up. As for having a childlike mentality I still have one and guess that is just part of having Aspergers Syndrome.

I got it one time in school at age 11. There was no way I was telling anyone why I needed to go home, especially not the male teacher whose class I was supposed to be in at the time who was very strict about not letting you go to the nurses office "unless you had broken bones or were bleeding".

I just stuffed my underwear with paper towels and left without telling anyone and walked home.

At first i had to tried to hide mine also, then i ended up having to tell ma (she actually knew she had intuition).
Aside from the hassle of the period, i didn't care. I mean i'd rather not have one at all, however it's just something i've
accepted as a part of life and am thankful i don't get bad cramps like my gf does.

That didn't happen to me when mine started, but long before that, when I first learned about menstruation from a neighbor girl, it upset me and made me extremely angry. I was maybe 8 years old. From that time until I began menstruating at 13 or 14 I dreaded it. I seem to recall though that my mom had me prepared in advance with some knowledge of hygiene products and what to do, and there were older sisters in the house, so no shortage of supplies. So there was no need to talk to anyone about it, and I can't recall whether I did or not.

When my periods began it was more a matter of physical difficulties. I had heavy flow, awful cramps and nausea.

I LOVE post-menopause. :P

Isn't this fairly typical of all girls? I don't think there is anything AS specific about acting like this. Heck, men sometimes act like this to, one of my Health teachers said his son cried when his arm pits sprouted hair.
