Has anybody heard of this business in Utah? Apparently he charges Liberals $1.00 more than Conservatives. Because this guy is from Utah, I am not entirely surprised that he is so vocal about it. I personally would never spend my money at this place, because I think it is wrong to charge somebody based on their own personal beliefs.

How does he know whether you're a liberal or a conservative?

I mean- you dont have time to engage someone in a heavy philosophical discussion when you're ringing them up at the til.

I have no idea. I wonder what would happen if I say "none of your business?" He would probably assume I am a Liberal and charge me more.

"Juice bar?"

If I'm going to a bar, I want booze, not "juice."

Conservatives can drink their juice. I'll take the beer.

:D

It's quite commonplace in a lot of the world to charge foreigners more simply because they're foreigners.

That said, I think he's an a***hole but he can charge what he likes. If he can make money out of being an a***hole, so be it.

What about me? I'm a conservative (well, national conservative, though not like the Constitution Party in the U.S.) and liberal. I'm pro-LGBT rights (though not to the nearly religious extent of the organised left, and I think gay pride parades are now counterproductive but I support their right to hold them) and anti-organised religion (especially anti-Christianity's batshit insane version of it that is in evidence in much of the U.S.). Work that out.

His business will probably last in the redneck state of Utah. Since I live in PA, I don't plan to go to Utah anytime soon. He can himself a blast for all I care. I deal with enough people like him in PA anyway.

I read something about it the other day, it's just a schtick. He doesn't litmus test his customers, you just have the choice of paying the "conservative" price or the "liberal" price which is a $1 more. He's big on drilling and mining.

When I buy anything, beverages included, I'm not in the habit of disclosing my political affiliation. It wouldn't even occur to me ask anyone, either.

If I was masochistic enough to buy from him and help his sorry business I'd tell him I was a communist after having paid.

No different than gay/lesbian bars charging straight people (usually in couples) a higher door charge to get in.

Or swinger or sex clubs letting women in free, charging a small amount for couples and charging single men a hefty fee.

To be fair, the democrats just majorly jacked up his operating costs and taxes.

In fact, Obama just jacked up everyone's taxes.

Remember when he said he wouldn't raise taxes on lower and middle class Americans?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I think that Utah only has one or two liberals at most, anyway. The rest range from Conservatives to Arch Conservatives.

That is probably just Jon Huntsman who gets charged the extra buck. He can afford it.
