Please delete this thread if it is out of order.

There has been discussion, on WP, off WP, and offline, of a concern that WP, particularly "General Autism Discussion" is too "negative". I personally would like to ask if it would be possible encourage, preferably voluntarily, "negative" threads to be started in "Haven" instead of "General Autism Discussion"?

The concerns out there, which I have personally heard both outside of WP and offline, is that WP is perceived to be "negative", and that may create an issue when Aspies think about joining the community, due to the percieved "negativity". I admire Alex greatly for what he has created here in such a short time, and my concern is that perhaps this type of thread belongs in a different sub-forum (Haven). I do not believe that any change would unduly burden WP members, since the "Haven" sub-forum is clearly labeled, and I would hope that the current moderation policies stand in not moving threads unless they clearly belong elsewhere.

While not the most artfully expressed by the OP in this thread, I believe the commentary to date does express both sides of the issue.

While moderators could enforce such a policy change and move negative threads to the Haven and encourage negative threads to be created there, it really would need a change of policy statement from Alex himself for us to do this. We (the mods) simply enforce the site rules and policies; Alex dictates what those rules and policies are.

the haven is suposed to be a safe place, not nececarily a negative one.posts in the haven are of a sensative and personal nature but that doesnt have to mean negative.i dont believe labaling the haven as the place for all thing negative and or sad is really right

^ I agree entirely.

It's not even clear what "negative" is supposed to mean, and it's something I would have thought impossible to define in a global, "site-relative" way. :?

of cousrse thread about negative numbers should praoblby be in math science computers and techonology not the heaven and they are negative. Threads about negatives of film should be in the art section. Although that would probably be misinterpreting the post.
