Just what the topic says, strange or unique or extreme geographical names of whatever sort. No alphabetical order needed, but it might be a good idea to explain shortly why you chose the particular name you did. – All right, I'll start.

Mschtschonow. This is the Germanized form of the Polish city name Mszczonów and as such it starts with eight consonants.

"Whakapapa" in New Zealand (hint: "wh" is pronounced as an "f").

^

Ii. Just can't help wondering the name of this Finnish municipality. Its meaning is obscure, and in maps it is extremely misleading, looking like the number eleven. Road signs are confusing, this is what you see when you enter downtown Ii.

Image

Also, there is a neighboring municipality called Yli-Ii, the prefix "yli" means something like "higher." Therefore the municipality of Ii is sometimes called Ali-Ii, "ali" meaning "lower." As such, the geographical name of Ii is the shortest real name in Europe, albeit the French town of Y has a one-letter name. Depending on the font used, the two i's of Ii take less space than the one Y of Y.

There is a street not too far from my house called Star Trek Lane. In a book of funny signs I saw one for a place called Dick Lick Springs.
