Also, do you feel deeply about them or just mildy interested?

One of mine was a doctor where I worked.

Can they be fictional characters? If so, one of mine is Scarlett O'Hara.

I have lots of heroes. Mainly environmental ones like Jane Goodall or people like Terry Fox.

Mick Avory of The Kinks. Him and I are so much alike. I've read enough books and magazine on The Kinks to know. :)

This might sound cheesy, but without a doubt my hero is my mother. She's not only the most kind and caring person i've ever met, but she's always been so strong in spite of everything she's been through.

Detective Victor Burakov. He's a forensics detective who played a key role in tracking the serial killer Andrei Chikillo.

I first became aware of this story from the movie Citizen X based on the case. It was well cast with Stephen Rea and Donald Sutherland. I later bought the book the movie was based on The Killer Departmen by Robert Cullen.

I was impressed by his determination to see such a horrible case through to the end after collecting so many bodies and investigating so many murders scenes. He actually had a nervous breakdown from it and than returned to work.

My real heroes are two kids who live in Georgia, who are doing a campaign to help save the rhinos, and spread the word on the impact of plastic pollution.

My fictional heroes are the Planeteers.

Arnold Toynbee

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold_Toynbee

Quote:
Arnold Toynbee (23 August 1852 – 9 March 1883) was a British economic historian also noted for his social commitment and desire to improve the living conditions of the working classes.

Toynbee attended public schools in Blackheath and Woolwich. In 1873 he began to study political economy at Oxford University, first at Pembroke College and from 1875 at Balliol College, where he went on to teach after his graduation in 1878. His lectures on the history of the Industrial Revolution in 18th and 19th century Britain proved widely influential; in fact, Toynbee coined,[2] or at least effectively popularised, the term "Industrial Revolution" in the Anglophone world—in Germany and elsewhere it had been brought into circulation earlier by Friedrich Engels, also under the impression of the industrial changes in Britain.

He married Charlotte Atwood, 12 years his senior and a cousin of Harold F. Davidson, the famous rector of Stiffkey.

Toynbee died in 1883, at age 30. His health had rapidly deteriorated, probably due to exhaustion by excessive work.

Quote:
Warren Edward Buffett (/ˈbʌfɨt/; born August 30, 1930) is an American business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. He is widely considered the most successful investor of the 20th century. Buffett is the primary shareholder, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway[5] and consistently ranked among the world's wealthiest people. He was ranked as the world's wealthiest person in 2008[6] and as the third wealthiest person in 2011.[7] In 2012, American magazine Time named Buffett one of the most influential people in the world.[8]

Buffett is called the "Wizard of Omaha", "Oracle of Omaha",[9] or the "Sage of Omaha"[10] and is noted for his adherence to the value investing philosophy and for his personal frugality despite his immense wealth.[11] Buffett is also a notable philanthropist, having pledged to give away 99 percent[12] of his fortune to philanthropic causes, primarily via the Gates Foundation. On April 11, 2012, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer,[13] for which he completed treatment in September 2012.[14]
