My mom told me. In the middle of the airport on our way to leave for vacation. I had been asking her why I was so different, and she told me. I got mad and defiant, she told me to stop talking so loud and I told her she just told me I have freaking Asperger's. I didn't believe her for a year until I finally decided to look it up out of curiosity. Turns out she was right; I do have freaking Asperger's. It's okay now though, I rather like it actually.

Denial --- > distress --- > acceptance ---- > after further research on Schizoid Personality Disorder and NVLD, rational skepticism.

Only got my DX last November @ age 52

Just before, more stressed out than ever before in my life.

At DX, happy that now it all made sense.

After DX, upset, and miserable that so much of my life was wasted as I couldn't make sense of things.

Now, trying to learn coping methods to counter the meltdown under stress from the adrenilin cascade issue.

Relief that there was a reason for my weird. Only got DXed 18 months ago, and that knowledge has improved my work life, as my colleagues now know why I'm so odd and don't get offended nearly as much....
