....yourself and your friends, and you imagine them in your own version of your favorite films? Call me crazy, but one part of my Aspie's does this to me.

Like, for example, me and three other friends I know star in my own version of Hot Tub Time Machine, but I've tailored the film around to my liking. Like for example, instead of Winterfest '86 in the original film, my friends and I go to Vancouver, BC for Expo 86, with rock stars and all that. In addition, even though we weren't quite born yet in June of 1986 (which is the approximate setting for my version of HTTM), there has to be a suspension of disbelief there. My 1986 self would be wearing this jersey, a pair of Nikes, have a hairstyle akin to Edward Elric of FMA and carry around a Sony cassette AM/FM Walkman (such were en vogue in 1986).

On that note, here's two pics that were commissioned for me @ SakuraCon 2010 that were inspired by HTTM:

I do things kind of like that, but with characters based on me and people I know (Mostly online friends) and in stories based on ones I've seen on TV, games, films, or in books. I put them all together so no one knows where I got the ideas from.

I sometimes imagine myself as the Doctor's companion or what I would do if I was in the same situation as Richard Mayhew from Neverwhere. Sometimes I imagine myself playing the part of Xander from Buffy in a remake.

equestriatola, is that 2nd pic Tai from Digimon? It looks like him.

It is; all 1980s-ified, though! :D

When I was a teenager I wrote my own version of the film Alien and changed the characters to be people from my class. It was great writing them getting killed by the alien.

Someday, Dominic, I will get the other six Digimon kids all 1980s-ified!

I even had my own version of L.A. Law as well. I rarely, if it all get these ideas down on a computer screen, so I just play them out in my head. Believe, the time-skip me in HTTM is much better than the life I have now.

I do that at times plus it gives me ideas for my RPG games. One of my favorite TV shows is the old 1960's era show, "Combat!" (WWII era show). There are times I like to figure out what parts of the team myself and my friends would play. ;)

I do think that doing this, putting yourself in favorite movies seems to be a nice way to be creative.

Anybody else like those 80s Digimon fanarts?

Additionally, I do this to TV shows, most particularly game shows.

I have imagined myself lately as the host of the 1980s incarnation of $ale of the Century (the U.S. version, that is.) I've been told I do a great job hosting! :D

No, but in elementary school I sometimes wrote stories where the characters were based on people I knew and I imagined it played out.

I find it easier to put my friends and myself into stories that I have read, probably because the written word is more personal when I read it and thus more realistic to me. Tv is someone else's point of view pushed onto all of us. Its why I don't like films based on books, books create imagination - the movie is just how that production company sees the book (and then hack it up) Wow.. kinda went off topic on that one. *saundra bullock snort*

Yeas ago, I used to imagine movie and television ideas, including people I detested in roles that I had intended terrible things to happen to.

Anybody else do this? :)

I also imagine myself in famous music videos of the 1980s, as well.
