i am not interested to engage in philosophical or political or mathematical debates on internet forums because they go on for many pages and i have no desire to deplete my energy trying to shoe horn my opinion into pages of posts where most participants are merely showcasing their knowledge.
when i was new on this site, i frequently addressed posts of the nature i detailed above, but i quickly learned that if i could not post links ("evidence please?") to eminent people's ideas that were concordant with my own, then my posts were ridiculed as uninformed speculation.
i am not really interested in politics because i live in my own world, and i am not interested in religion because no one will ever know whether god exists or not, so i rarely engaged in those threads, but there were mathematically oriented threads and threads which explored ideas concerning for example "the beginning of time" where i posted lengthy replies that were generated only from my own speculation, and they were lambasted because i offered my own opinion without "citations".
i remember complaining that all of the posts in a particular thread were simply copied and pasted from educational sites, and it was more like an "information war" rather than spontaneous consideration, and i was told that unless i had a degree in theoretical physics, i should not waste my energy compiling an answer because it was worthless.
they did not actually ponder what i was saying because they googled for things i said that could back me up, and when they found no similar ideas to mine in their search (to their relief), they felt justified in writing me off as a crude layman in an intellectual domain.
maybe my ideas may not have been effectual (but to me they were), but they simply canned my ideas because i was not qualified in their opinion to comment on the matter, and they rudely discarded my ideas, and then they continued to argue among themselves only based upon what they could find on the internet that had already been thought by eminent scientists.
i felt that they were simply disciples of their idols, and all they did was reword hypotheses that they could link to in order to authenticate their assertions.
_____________
these days, i will only respond either in an inane way that is not serious to threads where someone else has already said what i would have said if i was serious, or in a serious way to threads where people ask about my personal experience of autistic traits where no one else has already said what i have to say.
if someone else has said what i would have said, i see no use in saying the same thing because it superfluous.
i think i am in the middle range of intelligence on this site, and i am disillusioned that i am ridiculed if i venture into posts that are snobbishly "owned" by those who see me as a mundane imposter into their intellectual campus.
mostly now, my posts are ignored because the other posters can not be bothered to spend the energy to even read what i say because they have their radars attuned to people who's contributions they consider more important.
it does not bother me however, because i do not think about WP before about 11 pm, and it is certainly not a contributor to my self image.
