Any fans here? Recently got into it myself, just seeing if anyone out there is a fan.
It really struck a chord with me. I've always been a writer, but more a writer of research pieces than a creative writer. When I first started at college, way back at 17, I had one goal in mind: Journalism. If you'll forgive me being a tad melodramatic, I've always been attracted to the calling of the journalist, exemplified by men like Murrow and Cronkite, to inform the public and above all tell the truth. I dropped out when I realized that there was no room for real journalists anymore. The public wasn't interested in being informed with verifiable facts, just having their opinions, biases, and conspiracy theories being reinforced. The basis of a successful democracy had been replaced by what is essentially jumped-up tabloid journalism. So Jeff Daniels' character really struck a chord with me. Always nice to see an Aaron Sorkin show, and Sam Waterston is a treat, as usual.
I hope to all that is holy or possibly nonexistent that this show needs to stick around, just to stick it to the phonies.
