Are there any girls here that are interested in either Science Fiction, Video Games, or Chess?

I know it may be percieved as pathetic, but, well, I haven't had any contact with a girl since about the 8th grade and I would like to know one again.

Well, now I can die happy :D.

So, what type of sci-fi do you like? I usually like the hard science fiction, or ones that are very deep philosophically. How often do you play chess and do you compete in tournaments? And what type of video games do you play? I know you like the Sims because I read, and replied, to your other post in the Friends and Social Section.

And tell me about yourself?

I like deep Sci-Fi too..Also I like a good Fictonal novel, like The Supernaturalist. I play chess occasionally, but I do not compete. However, I might next year. ^^ I like all kinds of video games..It all depends on who I am playing against, if anybody at all. I like Halo, and similar games. I also like the Sims, as you know.

What kind of games do you like?

I like a lot of first person shooters like Halo and Battlefield, but I also like alot of RTS and RPG's as well, because of the high degree of freedom you have in being able to choose the outcome of the game. My personal favorite at this moment, however, is Battlefield 2142, just because I like to see all of those fancy advanced weaponry.

I've never read the Supernaturalist, what is it about? My typical Sci-Fi favorites are Asimov (Foundation and Robot Series), and the Dune series (By Frank Herbert) if you've ever heard of them. I also like Star Trek TNG.

Edward Young, hmm... To be honest, I've never met anyone your age, or my age, who knew anything about him.

Yeah I agree about the RTS and RPGs...Freedom is always great to have ^^

I haven't read too far into The Supernaturalist yet, but it seems very captivating thus far. It is basically like our modern-day orphans in an orphange, but with a twist. Rather than being called orphans, they are called No-Sponsors. The No-Sponsers are treated egregiously, and are usually dead by the age of 15. That is basically the only knowledge I have of this novel as of now. I have yet to read any of the Dune series, but I heard that there are some very interesting plots within those books.

About the Edward Young statement: I don't know much about him, but I found the quote rather useful when debating with Parliamentary Procedure. It is great to use when debating against postponing a motion either definitely or indefinitely.

Dead by the age of 15... Well, I see there is already a major conflict in the book!

About the Dune series, it is very interesting. I'm not going to describe a whole lot because I don't want to spoil it for you, but in a nutshell its about some person who gets exiled to the Planet of Dune because of some conspiracy. In later novels, though I have not read the last 2 ones, it talks about trying to create a genetically superior human being. They are all very good books. As for the science part, it typically talks alot about planetary environments and planetary ecology. Another big topic it goes over is weather control.

And about Edward Young, I really don't know much about him either, other than basic biography and some of his outlooks on life. I'm not sure if you read my profile, but I like philosophy a lot. Its just that I can never seem to find anyone in my school who is knowledgable or interested in the subject.

And about chess tournaments, one of the benefits is that if you win one, you can win lots of money :) . But it is very competitive, especially when thousands of dollars are there to be won. I also find it much easier to socialize with others in tournaments because most of the people in there are mature and more forgiving if you lack social skills.

I keep forgetting to put my signature on all of my posts, but I don't think it even matters.
