I keep hearing that an aspie on here has committed suicide, who though? Where? I've been pretty close myself to doing it for the past 7 or 8 yrs but I just keep hanging on hopelessly.

I haven't heard anything about that. I only heard about Burt Bacharach's daughter committing suicide, but nothing else.

No-one, I should hope. It is tragic that someone end their own life, with the exception of criminals. I know how badly people feel, but it's better living a long life and holding on than just ending it. Sometimes people just can't cope with things and suicide seems the only way out.

You aren't referring to William Freund, are you? That happened a few years back.

It was about 15 months ago.

It was before I joined here so I wouldn't know that much about it. I thought it was at least two years ago, though. I suspect some of you might even remember this chap when he was here.

I joined in 2004, but I did not begin posting regularly until March 2006--so I missed this incident.

If you look at the statistics, and do a bit of quick arithmetic, then considering the number of members registered, at least one is likely to commit suicide every year. You can extrapolate from that that a number will attempt it and fail.

A sobering thought, indeed, and perhaps one the holier-than-thou ban-the-troll-brigade should consider in some depth before attempting to ostracise yet another non-conformist.

Probably completely inappropriate (but that's the story of large parts of my life, so why stop now) but when I read the thread title, I immediately got a mental pic of the OP asking this in a cemetery and getting answered.
"So, who here..."

"Glmf ghrrh"

we now rerail this thread

I'm not encouraging anyone either way, the way I figure it suicide is a choice. People should have control over their decisions, and it's selfish to make someone who is unhappy live an unhappy, miserable life.
I do think it's sad that they felt this was their best alternative, and I do feel compassion. But, it's not our decision to have told them what to do with their life. I know this is a controversial viewpoint, and I am not trying to encourage anyone or discourage anyone from doing it. I've thought about doing it myself numerous times before. Honestly I'm just trudging through the pains and covering my scars by smoking weed. Once I can get to where I can make some money though this will change.

It may have been inappropriate, but I enjoyed it.

On a related note, I've been dead for about a week now. I hope someone finds my body soon. :(
