I am probably a little too young to feel this way, at 21, but I feel like a vampire. I am assuming a lot of autistic people may get this feeling...

A day ago, a sister of my aunt ask my sister if I was her little sister, and then later in the conversation she was surprise to find out I (we) live on our own. Let alone I bought my own home. So if she thought my sister was at oldest 19, then she must had thought I was like 16-17.... At a job interview, they ask if I was at least 18, even after knowing I graduate high school like a few years ago, with years of working experience. I am ask ID at like a pawn shop.

Then today I visit my old neighborhood, and I notice all my neighbors are old and looking like adults. And I practically remain the same (if not look younger than I do back then).

it's kind of freaky, since I feel like I am frozen in time, but I also maintain an anti-aging regime.

Yes. I've just lately started to look older, though nowhere near as old as most 30 year olds look. Still can't get enough facial hair for a respectable beard.

When you do get older, it's cool to look younger than people your age.

Probably a common trait of those on the autism spectrum.

I am 43, and I look a lot younger than that. Probably 35.

it is a well known trait of aspergers that we tend to look younger then we actually are, so yes i also get this.
often in groups, whenever our relative age comes up, i am guessed to be (on of) the youngest in the group, while i am actually the oldest (youngest and oldest beong over 5 years apart).
while this is flattering, it ges annoing at times. at least i am not estimated below legal age so i dont get carded anywhere (unless it's policy to card everyone)

Wow, I really didn't know this. I'm 23 and I always get asked for ID (in Britain the legal drinking age is 18). That's not so bad, only whenever I show my ID they always think I'm lying. I've been kicked out of Tesco once because the guy was certain I had false ID. Most people think my 19 year old sister is older than me. I even got some school kids once, behind me in the queue at a shop. I was buying cigarettes and they said "No way are you older than us! You must only be like 15!". Anyway, cool to know it's an AS trait I guess :P

This probably doesn't help you feel any better but lots of women would love to look younger & would be very flattered if asked for ID. I don't know if our bodies looking physically younger is a trait of Aspergers or not ; my opinion leans towards not but our mental ages tend to be younger than our physical ages. I read on lots of sites that Aspies on average are mentally a 3rd younger than their peers. Various things about mental ages can get picked up on like how we dress or the mannerisms we have which can cause others to get impressions about our ages. Maybe dressing & acting more professionally & formal for job interviews would help.

I got IDed at the pub last night, so they must have thought I wasn't 18. I've been 18 for 7 months!

My looks haven't changed/matured since I turned 16. People are already surprised i'm over 18 let alone stand 24.

I don't know what the rules are for pubs but I know the law for stores like walmart that sell alchol is that ID is required for anyone who doesn't look over a certain age; I know the age is over 30.

It depends on the state that the Walmart is in. In Oregon, it is 40. I heard of one state they ID everyone, including gram and gramps. Fines are spendy and can even lead to eventually losing the "right to sell" license, so I suppose you get enough clerks earning you a hefty fine you up the age. Though personally, it gets a bit nerve wracking after a day of people objecting to being ID'ed. I understand why they do it though.

I feel like a real vampire. I sometimes stab people in the jugular with a sharp object I carry around in my pocket, and I sample some of their blood. I don't kill them, and nobody I've tried this with has turned into a vampire. But I still feel like one.
