Nicole,

Does your son have any "special interests"? Anything that could help him connect with others?

He is very smart and loves anything to do with science or history. He also loves The Walking Dead, politics and music from different eras and genres. Most kids his age couldn't care less about these things.

Just did a Google search and came up with this: https://kidsclub-ceismc.gatech.edu/
Maybe that could be a place to start if you haven't checked it out already?

I just joined up yesterday and I too, am a writer, though the only thing I have published was an ebook. it's called Miss Candace and the main male character has Asperger's syndrome. I also have some short stories and poems. I didn't have any friends when I went to school either. It was lonely, especially at lunch times.

Cool! To me it's always a worthy endeavor to take the time to write. Even if you're a Mormon named Stephenie Meyer. :P
