Just wondering because most of the stuff that it said inside there can be either embarrasing or depressing to look at and read (one reason why I don't exactly hang out around there). If it isn't, it's probably in the best intrests users starting threads there (or at least the ones that give The Haven it's name). But then, some of the things there aren't classed like that (such as my Throw a Brick thread), so maybe you could give the option for topics there to be seen as 'invisible' by non-registers?

Hmm, but then you could argue why they don't post the thread in Member's Only Discussion. This is a self-defeating thread, isn't it?

Well considering it takes under 5 minutes to become a "member" and I've seen member only areas end up in search engines, I'd say assume *EVERYTHING* on the site is visible to *EVERYONE*

Oh, and the admin also is able to read all "private messages" Just a heads up.

Figures. Okay then, taking out the fact that it takes 5 minutes for someone to become a member, shouldn't some topics in the Haven be invisible to non-members due their subject? I mean, I sure wouldn't want strangers veiwing my life traumas.

just tested, it is *NOT* visible to non-members, but things like the FF bug-me-not pluging will get you in, even without being a member.

That's good. I think people would think we're all Anarchists and hate everyone if they only saw what people throw bricks at in my Throw a Brick thread!

site administrators *do not* read private messages.

Bateau is right about the fact that you can pretty much sign up in less than five minutes, however. But private areas of the site don't show up in search engines.

But it is possible for site administrators to read private messages, even if they do not.

Basically said, nothing is permanently private. Anyone can sign up as a member here (unless their IP address is banned, which then it isn't that difficult to get a new one), so I would advise you to be careful what you post - both publically and privately.

Namiko is correct in (g his/her) analysis of what I said.

I didn't say you *DO* read them, I said you are able to, and I know in the past there have been incidents where you have read them (and stated that publicly after the fact, or when dealing with issue, such as pedophiles harassing users in PM)

Yes, and hundreds of yahoo, google, and aol employees also have the ability to read your email.
