Hi,

I guess I'm "new," insofar as I've been recently diagnosed as a 30-something adult (I don't feel like an adult... and my wife was like "duh!" after she learned of the diagnosis, although, she didn't say "duh" since she's really, really smart. it wasn't a surprise, is what i mean...)... married, have 2 daughters, love software and technology and gadgets and... the internet.

Which I suppose makes a lot of sense (the last interest) as more people on the internet will know about my diagnosis now than the amount of fingers that I have (both hands, to be specific). Not even my parents know yet.

So, hi. I'm learning. A lot. About who i am and what all this means. I'm excited, nervous... all of the above? I'd love for any great books, resources, websites, etc. if you have any... i'll unfortunately read them all if you post something so... don't post too much stuff...

One of my undying passions and fascinations and compulsions is writing. I do not consider myself to be a writer... i just write, a lot. I'm sharing some of my journey on a blog... which I hope is in my signature, but i'll have to double-check after I hit "submit" here...

Ok, that is all.

Creative Aspie.

Hi. Welcome to our little corner of the globe. Feel free to join the cognoscenti as they strive to deliver the finer points of their special interests unto a brutal, and often unforgiving, landscape - mankind.

how long have you now been living post-diagnosis? (is there a fancy word for that in "our" language?)

hello and well met.

I was diagnosed last year, and like you I bought a heap of books and read everything I could in the search to understand what Aspergers is.

I find it unusual in that I can't tell what I do different to everybody else. Everybody else on the otherhand can see it like a red flag (apparently).

My Book Reviews:

Any Tony Attwood book. I found Tony's books completely useless for me. They appear to be written for a nerotypical (someone who understands what normal is). He explains to them what Asperger's are like without ever stating what normal is like. And since I can't tell the difference between myself and anyone else, I find that Tony is simply telling me what I'm like. It's very much "well duh!", but what is normal? No idea...

Maxine Aston has written a book called Asperger's in Love. This is a truly fantastic book, and the only one I've read that gives me any insight into how I'm different.

If there is a fancy word for it, I don't know it :)

And it will be a year for me in a couple of weeks.
