I have just completed my third year at a community college. I have about 70 credit hours, and my GPA currently stands at a 3.28. I'm not satisfied with that. I was hoping to get accepted into an honors program once I start university, but one of their requirements is a minimum GPA of 3.35 (it's not actually required, but they do take it into account). I need only two classes at most before I can transfer to university, and I doubt that two more classes can boost my GPA that much, especially since they're both math classes.

Do you think a 3.28 GPA is really that bad? Am I just being too hard on myself?

Forgive me if I've misunderstood, the GPA system is quite foreign to me (I'm a Brit), but that's roughly equivalent to a middle to high B, right? As far as I am concerned, a B is good. An A is of course very good. A C is satisfactory and a D is poor.

Congratulations, you're better than satisfactory. Which is good.

Excluding classes I've dropped (which were only two), I have 11 "A"s, eight "B"s, and four "C"s, and nothing lower. Yeah, I guess that's pretty good on my part, but I have friends who have maintained very high GPAs, and I guess it's my competitive nature that's keeping me unsatisfied.

A 3.3 isn't bad (round it up on your resume), it's far better than your typical student to be honest. And the honors program is kind of a joke in my opinion, I have friends who have done it and it adds absolutely no educational value to their curriculum, and no one really cares about it in the end. Really the major grade cut-offs are 3.0, 3.5, 3.75, and of course 4.0. As long as you have over a 3.0 you can qualify for most jobs out there. There's a few that require over a 3.5, but not that many. Plus, you'll find that once you start working, employers hardly even care about your GPA. I have a very high GPA myself, but they hardly even look at it, they just care about my work experience more than anything.

I won't get in trouble if I round my GPA in my resumes?

I had a professor who recommended that I apply for Honors College. If nothing else, I feel it would be a personal accomplishment for myself if I got in.

As long as you say "3.3" and not "3.30" you'll be fine, the extra digits get lost in the significant figures. And honors college would be great to get into if you can since every little bit helps, but in my experience it really won't matter much at all in terms of either employment or additional education afterwards.

Mine is gonna probably be about that when I graduate in a week. I'm convinced it was one of the deciding factors, if not the only deciding factor, in keeping me out of graduate school.
