I just don't understand the attitude of NT females towards their periods, that they should be celebrated as a "sign of womanhood". How is all this blood and other crap coming from where the sun don't shine and a week of pain a good thing? Just because it's a natural process, doesn't necessarily make it a good thing that's worth celebrating. Yes, it's a milestone, but would a boy get together with his male relatives to celebrate his first wet dream? I think not. Also, "womanhood" isn't necessarily a good thing either, because it means the loss of childhood innocence and the beginning of all sorts of problems such as guys only wanting you for your body, unwanted pregnancy etc.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just depressed right now and need to get it out.

Yep. At least the one side of having been either pregnant or breastfeeding since 2009 is that I've had like 6 periods in that span of time? Yay?

Honestly, I don't think that anyone is reeeeeeally like "Yay, menstrual flow!!" :D
I think that the whole, "Wonderful symbol of womanhood!! !! !!" thing is more out of an awkward hope that it'll make it less freaky for a young girl when she suddenly begins bleeding uncontrollably, if it's presented as something good and grown up.

I'm NT and can honestly say I have never thought that periods are something to be celebrated. In fact as far as I'm concerned I think the menopause is brilliant because I've left all that suffering behind me! I hope you feel better soon.

For me the cramps go away if I drink lots of water and " work it off" by doing my job. Water and heavy physical activity usually helps.

I think the "sign of Womanhood" celebrations are just another device of the feminists in their battle of the sexes, whereas in reality, such scrapings from the bottom of the barrel actually harm their cause.

Why I post here though is to report that young men are immensely proud of wet dreams, evidence of an emission like a horse being viewed as a sign of notable masculinity.

My experience with women is that they too much enjoy the spectacle of a Mans orgasm, so its not just a gross man thing.

The most endearing words a girl ever said to me was, " Iam covered in the stuff, its everywhere!"

Yes. f**k menstruation.
The only good thing about a period is that it means you aren't pregnant.

I actually look forward to getting my period. It's because I am on the contraceptive pill, which makes my periods lighter, less painful (only bearable pains), and regular, so I know exactly when I'm getting it. And on the week when I have a period, I don't have to take a pill for that week. Taking the pill is annoying, especially if I get into bed and realise I have forgotten to take my pill.

OK all NT women think I'm crazy when I say I like getting my period.

Cant agree with you, In 33 years, I have never met a woman that would have celebrated her period ^^, anyway if NT or not.

I don't know any NT women who see it that way. Most of them seem very squeamish about it, and a lot of them seem to have the same feelings about loss of innocence etc. you mentioned.

I don't understand that, personally. It's just blood. I'm not disgusted by anyone else's blood, much less my own, and it doesn't symbolize anything to me except that I'm not pregnant and that I can expect my cramps and bloating to go away soon (both good things). I always saw this whole "oh no, now I'm a woman with all the bad things that go with it" attitude toward menarche as a very NT thing, actually. All that focus on social role when something is a simple bodily function.

EDIT: if anything, being grossed out by one's own bodily fluids is not natural. It's socialization. Are you grossed out by your own saliva?

I think it’s quite natural to be grossed out by blood. In the wild, it usually means you can be next.
