Three "Hail Mary's" and an "Amen" to that!

Should school boards be elected or appointed? For my school system they wereappointed. For a neighboring school system, they weren't. I've heard that the neighboring school system really went into a decline after the school board became elected. (And also due in part to a sad incident that got five principals fired. One of the principals that got fired was replaced with my uncle as a result, though. )

Your uncle is THE PRINCIPAL?! Man, your popularity in school must suck. Not meaning it to be mean, just that the principal's family isn't considered very popular in most systems...

Of course, our principal doesn't have any family in the student body, so we're ok...

They should be appointed, because if not: they may be a crack-pot.

Very true in terms of educating your kids, but that's not why school boards exist. They exist to provide their members ways to enrich themselves (some more legal than others) and/or to provide a stepping stone to higher political office.
