Besides a bunch of self-help books, I'm starting "Roger's Version" by John Updike.

My brother gave me a copy of it he picked up in a thrift shop that has "John Updike" written in cursive in the front. He was all excited that he found an autographed copy of an Updike novel for me for a dollar. No idea if it's authentic, but was touched he thought of me.

That was really sweet of your brother. I'd treasure the book and the sentiment as well.

Just out of curiosity I googled his signature and apparently it looks like this, but either way that's no replacement for him thinking of you and giving such a thoughtful gift.

That's a very nice gift. Updike is from Shillington, as you probably know.

I'm reading a book about how the 1969-1970 New York Knicks came together.

Not exactly STEM material!

Have you read anything by Phil Jackson?

If you’re at all a fan of the 90s Bulls or Phil Jackson, I’d recommend Sacred Hoops: Spiritual Lessons of a Hardwood Warrior. I think he came to the Knicks in 1970, and he talks about joining a team with such a legacy.

Oh, cool. It might just be authentic, then.

Yeah, thank-you. My brother actually lives around 20 minutes or so from Shillington and found it in that area.

We Hunt the Flame and its sequel, We Free the Stars by Hafsah Faizal. Both are great and I highly recommend them if you like fantasy with great worldbuilding and characters (and many plot twists).

Years Best Hardcore Horror Volume 6: Masquerade.

Christmas present from my wife. Anthology of short extreme horror fiction from last year, judged to be the best. So far a bit inconsistent, but still enjoyable.
