Bieber has been taking time out from his recent crime spree to demand he be taken seriously "as an artist". Should he be so taken?

To be taken seriously as an artist, you have to produce art that's worth being taken seriously. If he manages to do that, then I will take him seriously and respect his work, but he has yet to do so in my mind.

I'm not sure whether being taken seriously is something he can demand, really. That comes off as prideful and entitled. As stargazer said, he should produce art worth being taken seriously; whether he has done it or not is beyond my scope.

I think Justin Bieber will eventually become a juggalo and go join Psychopathic Records. Because he's so gangster. Also, he'll need a few steroid cycles.

I can take him seriously as a singer, but until he actually produces something artistic I cannot call him an artist.

Who is this "Bieber", and why should anyone care?

I think he lost the opportunity to be taken seriously a long time ago. He hasn't been acting wisely with his fame. Does he even know how many little girls look up to him despite the talentless junk he's thrown out? He's setting a really bad example, and he needs to learn that fast.

I don't think I'd ever have the capacity to take him seriously.

How hard is it to write the rehashed "Oh baby, oh baby" deal? My dog could do so, figuratively speaking.

He's a total dreamboat and we should care because the media tells us we should!

No, I don't think so nor do I think he should have a drivers license.

I still feel so bad for that poor wittle capuchin(?) monkey that he had. That monkey was a baby! It needed to be with its mother for another year before being weened, plus it shouldn't be kept as a pet. Monkeys are like us at time, overwhelmed to the point of episodes. Then the people blame the monkey for being a monkey. It always ends badly. Sorry if that was an info dump.

I am completely unaware of his product at all and this person is known as a silly sideshow, I have to admit I started this thread for a laugh.

The past few generations in particular need things to complain about that they can do nothing about and which don't affect them. From the sound of it my grandparents just settled for thinking my mother's generation's now-classic music was trash and got on with life.

My complaints about Bieber are as follows; 1 - the Important Person Act, that he does things for which normal people go to prison. He even had his private goons tell the police to leave and they complied. 2 - Tiresome chatter about himself and that girl. 3 - People who have a problem with me laughing about Bieber or about mentioning the hedge clippers plot. Sure I have a sick sense of humour but that is not a crime.

He looks like a spoiled little boy, to say the least.
