I've noticed that a lot of people on here have stories of abuse..that's upsetting to me.
I was abused (approximately) three years as a child. The only other person I know that was abused is diagnosed with Asperger's.
I just...I don't like the pattern I'm seeing?

Abuse, depression, isolation, general misunderstanding of our character...thank goodness for imagination. I don't know if it is everyone, but...

Yeah, and the abuse/depression/isolation led me to homelessness, attempted suicide and drug abuse. I guess I should thank my imagination for keeping me afloat.

It was suggested to me that my abusers may have seen me as a person who could be easily victimized because I have difficulty interpreting other people's body language and determining their intentions. Perhaps this is why abuse is common among those on the spectrum.

I was abused and I am a aspie, I think aspergers makes us easy targets for such abuse like Pip said.

Outside of abuse, do we not tend to live very much in our imaginations anyway? I guess for people who have been abused it can be a saving grace to have that trait.
