I understand that most of the members here are pro-neurodiversity, but I think it's time we have a new subforum called "Treatments and Research", where we discuss the aforementioned for autism. For instance, John Robison was treated with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, and he's pro-neurodiversity.

Many famous people have also used their depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ect as a gift, but these disorders can also affect a person in really negative ways (schizophrenics can be homicidal in some cases). There are treatments available for all of them, and nobody would consider banning them.

As mentioned on a previous thread, I support the idea of this subforum for the sake of intellectual discussion and the exchange of ideas.
I'm extremely pro-neurodiversity, but I recognize that the quality of some's peoples lives can be improved by the treatment of certain elements of certain neurological configurations.

If nothing else, perhaps there can be a sticky in the General Autism subforum specifically about treatments?

If anything, such treatments would have to actually work, and not just be the latest money-making bit of quackery.

Besides, (1) only Alex can create new forums on this website, and he does not seem inclined to do so; and (2) Alex has voiced his concern for the number of sticky threads in the General Autism forum (we can't even get a sticky made of "Autism FAQ's" put there).

Can we have a sub-forum for discussing research into treatments for being NT ?
I think it's a matter of great concern to see how widespread the condition seems to be.

Again, the decision is up to Alex.
