Does anyone on this site play the bass guitar? I am part of a band called spectrum as the bass guitarist.

I can play bass, but I don't very often. I usually stick with my uke or guitar, when I'm in the mood for strings. Poor thing is gathering dust in my room. It's just so sad. I should go apologize.

I have been playing bass for more than 3 1/2 years now, for my own amusement. Last May, I bought a defretted five string bass, and have neglected my previous five string bass. But the keyboard is my main instrument. I like to make up melodic bass lines. There is zero chance I will ever play in public or in any band as it is hard to make friends with others. Being able to make up my own music is what keeps me interested in playing. Without that, I would have lost interest many years ago. Dave

Sorry I'm a guitarist, and I can't control my impulse to respond.
Bass is for people who can't play guitar well.
The bass player is often the guy who owns the van, and drives the band to gigs, without the van he may not be in the band.
In reality I play guitar not much better than average.
I have played bass, but I have small hands and too short fingers to play bass well or comfortably.
The above were my impulsive responses, but I felt the need to share.
BTW, spectrum was the name of a band in Australia in the 1970's, if you have any level of success, you may need to consider a name change.

As a Guitarist, I would have to say shut it... there are plenty of bassists out there who make guitarists look foolish. I hate the whole trendy "band dynamics" crap, keep it to yourself please. :x
