The reason for me posting this is that it is possible that some members may know of a group that runs locally to other members, and could perhaps suggest it to them.

I am aware that a lot of people with aspergers are isolated, and only live that way because they are not aware of groups within their area that they may enjoy attending.

AANE (Asperger's Association of New England) is within driving distance. I've gone to conferences they've run.

I would never join any club that would have me as a member. (I believe that's a Groucho Marx quote.) However, I did join WP, and am registered with Dear Abby, through my Yahoo account, and with a number of newsletters, news sites, TV/Movie sites/ and other places of interest to me. I am not a member of any in-person groups. I am a hermit. Hermits don't join clubs. :lmao: If I should ever wish to join any in-person Asperger's groups, I would do an online search to find the nearest ones. :)

No idea if there is anything like that here. I wouldn't join it if there were.

In the last support group I joined, the leader kept trying to sell Amway/Herbalife products.

on the subject of amway, I wonder if there is something about some aspies that would make for great marketers of such.

That is a major issue, particularly when combined with the low population densities in some areas.

I don't think there are any here, but I'd like to go to one at least once. I just want to see how a room full of autistics would interact. :)

I can tell you that it would not be too dramatic. the key is to make it a totally non-threatening atmosphere of support, and in such an environment even the most taciturn aspies will open up. that is how my group works.

Yes: I am under three groups: a Kent one, a Sussex one and a London one
