I read that adolescence officialy ends at 25. But that is for NTs. Does it end later for us.

I hope so, I'd like to learn a language or instrument at 40.

I'm past 50 and I don't feel a day over 17. If anything I think my Executive Function probably peaked around 35 and has been in a slow, steady decline ever since.

I don't think I really ever was a teenager except in the physical sense, I kept on being a kid during my teen years and I kind of still am. Although at thirteen I was told my intelligence was up there with 18-year-olds. And when I turned 18 it seemed everyone else the same age acted... like idiots. :-P Nearly every person I've liked or gotten along well with has been at least a decade older than me, and yet my hobbies and special interests seem odd for a 39-year old women: video games, cartoons, drawing, toy collecting and crafting (for myself not other people), animated "kids" movies and books...sometimes I still read children's books like Dr. Suess out loud when I'm all alone. :)

Psysiologic adolescense ends much earlier than neuropsychologic adolescense. If it ends later in autistic population, it would not stop the cognitive impairment related with age.
But most middle-aged people are able to learn a language or an instrument.

I'm 27, but I don't feel like an adult at all. I feel more like a teenager. I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

he isn't referring to anything. he's asking a question. and as far as I know, it ends at the same time as it would for a neurotypical.

i assumed he is asking about the neuroplasticity that goes with youth, that allows us to learn new skills more easily.

i think we lose some of it as we age, but some depends on how much we exercise our minds.

on the other hand, i have also experienced a steady degradation in my ability to learn (especially memorizing) since my 20's, and it's not like i haven't pushed myself (or been forced by circumstances) to learn new skills and information.

but i still CAN learn... it's just harder. and i really have to be hands-on these days.
