You don't need a telescope to see it, it basically is a large yellow star above and to the right of the moon. I just took my dog for a walk and could easily see it

Check out Venus and Mercury the next few nights. Venus is really bright in the evening twilight. Look to the southwest. Mercury will be down below it to the right. Mercury is much fainter than Venus, and it looks kind of pinkish-white in color.
