So for once, I actually get a message on OKCupid from a woman I actually find attractive and might be interested in....but it seems odd. She asked to trade pics....is that normal? Should I be wary of messages like that? Really have no clue what to make of it....

Of course, I should note that the pic on my profile is about 5 or 6 years old and the only other one I could possible access for the site is from around the same time ( and depicts me & a friend wearing our Kamen Rider Den-O henshin belts, which might be too geeky ). I only have 2 other pics of myself, but they're on my 3DS with no way to transfer them to my laptop ( they're also the same just slightly different distances...and of me & my best friend at PumkinFest this past weekend ).

She introduced herself ( Hi I'm ***** ), Then went on like this:

"I'm new to this. Wanted to say hi and see if u wanted to trade more pics."

.. Or, It might be someone out to collect people's photos for other purposes (which they of course don't tell you).. Like use your photographs to present themselves/ their product. I've heard about people who have actually sent their photo upon request by someone, to then only later on find out that the same photograph they sent had been used in pornographic, sexual ads.

Be careful at least, you never know

I wouldn't reply to this. It sounds like it could be a scam. If she messaged you because she liked your profile then either she would comment or if not, make one of the usual mistakes that people make with their first message, like saying "hi" or something. If women do send the first message, they usually never ask for pics in that first message and most men wouldn't either.

What does her profile look like? 1 picture? No pictures? Lots of pictures? Developed profile? No profile?

One trick you can do is save her profile picture to the desktop, then use google images or tinyeye to search the web for it. Great way to help identify scammers.

I would say if she's got a developed profile, go for it, send her a few pictures.

Is there a reason you don't have a recent picture up? Also what qualities does this alleged girl have other then being attractive that makes you think she'd be a good fit?

Does this person have a full profile or just basics and a pic?
Is the pic rather low in resolution? I'd just send the reply you want to send to them and I guess from their response you'll know if they're real or not.
Don't send a pic yet just say it might interest you and talk about her a little.

Certainly a camera can fix the old picture problem, even a decent webcam picture is better than an old one. Mine range from this spring back to 2009.

Respond "So tell me a little more about yourself..." and ask her about something specific on her profile.

I'd be incredibly wary of anyone on the internet who wants to "trade pics".

I deleted it. Just felt sketchy. Doubt I'll ever get another message from anybody I'd be remotely interested in

I tried sending a message to another woman I found attractive and interesting ( she had a full profile btw ) but I guess she just deleted it because I never got a reply nor did she even look at my profile...should I try again, or would that come off as pushy & desperate? How should I word it?

are you too fat or too skinny?

I don't think the content of profile is that bad, you don't sound crazy here.

I think that once you're able to get better pictures it will help you immensely. Many people are pickier online than they might be in real life.
